Gaetano Scognamiglio was born on May 12, 1985, in Naples, Italy. He grew up in a family of musicians, with his father being a pianist and his mother a singer. From a young age, Scognamiglio showed a natural talent for music, and he began studying the piano at the age of six. Scognamiglio's early musical education was focused on classical piano, and he quickly became known for his technical skill and musicality. He studied with some of the most renowned piano teachers in Italy, including Aldo Ciccolini and Bruno Canino. He also attended masterclasses with famous pianists such as Martha Argerich and Maurizio Pollini. In 2003, Scognamiglio won first prize at the International Piano Competition "Città di Marsala" in Italy.
