At the age of six, Boris gave his first public performance, and by the age of nine, he had already won his first competition. He continued to win numerous competitions throughout his childhood and teenage years, including the All-Union Competition in Moscow in 1972. In 1974, Boris moved to the United States to study at the Juilliard School in New York City. He studied under the renowned pianist and teacher, Adele Marcus, and graduated with a Bachelor of Music degree in 1978. He continued his studies at Juilliard, earning a Master of Music degree in 1980. Boris made his debut at Carnegie Hall in 1985, performing Tchaikovsky's Piano Concerto No. 1 with the New York Youth Symphony. The performance was a huge success, and Boris received critical acclaim for his virtuosic playing and musicality. Throughout his career, Boris performed with many of the world's leading orchestras, including the New York Philharmonic, the Boston Symphony Orchestra, the London Symphony Orchestra, and the Berlin Philharmonic. Boris was known for his passionate and expressive playing, as well as his technical brilliance. He was particularly renowned for his interpretations of the music of Chopin, Liszt, and Rachmaninoff.
