Metropolis Ensemble is a New York-based classical music ensemble that was founded in 2006 by conductor and composer Andrew Cyr. The ensemble is known for its innovative programming and collaborations with contemporary composers and performers. Andrew Cyr, a graduate of the Juilliard School, founded Metropolis Ensemble with the goal of creating a flexible and dynamic ensemble that could perform a wide range of classical music, from traditional repertoire to contemporary works. The ensemble's name was inspired by the bustling energy of New York City, which Cyr felt reflected the ensemble's mission to bring new life to classical music. Metropolis Ensemble's core members include a diverse group of musicians, including string players, wind players, percussionists, and vocalists.
