Nina Tarandek is a Croatian classical pianist who has gained international recognition for her exceptional talent and musicality. Born on May 22, 1992, in Zagreb, Croatia, Nina showed an early interest in music and began playing the piano at the age of six. Her parents, both music lovers, recognized her potential and encouraged her to pursue her passion for music. Nina's musical education began at the Music School Blagoje Bersa in Zagreb, where she studied under the guidance of Professor Marija Vukelic. She quickly distinguished herself as a gifted pianist, winning numerous awards and competitions, including the first prize at the Croatian National Competition for Young Pianists in 2005 and 2007. In 2008, Nina was accepted into the prestigious Music Academy in Zagreb, where she continued her studies with Professor Ruben Dalibaltayan. During her time at the academy, Nina participated in masterclasses with renowned pianists such as Boris Berman, Pascal Devoyon, and Jacques Rouvier, further honing her skills and developing her musical style. Nina's talent and hard work paid off when she won the first prize at the International Piano Competition in Rome in 2011. This was a significant achievement for Nina, as the competition was highly competitive, with pianists from all over the world vying for the top prize. Her performance was praised for its technical precision, musicality, and emotional depth. Following her success in Rome, Nina began to receive invitations to perform at major music festivals and concert halls around the world. In 2012, she made her debut at the Dubrovnik Summer Festival, where she performed a solo recital to critical acclaim. She also performed at the International Piano Festival in Brescia, Italy, and the International Piano Festival in Santander, Spain. In 2013, Nina was invited to perform at the prestigious Carnegie Hall in New York City, one of the most iconic concert halls in the world. Her performance was part of the Rising Stars series, which showcases young and talented musicians from around the world. Nina's performance was a resounding success, with the audience and critics alike praising her technical skill and musicality. Nina's success continued in 2014 when she won the first prize at the International Piano Competition in Valencia, Spain. Her performance was described as "mesmerizing" and "spellbinding," with the judges praising her ability to convey the emotional depth of the music. In addition to her solo performances, Nina has also collaborated with other musicians and ensembles. In 2015, she performed with the Zagreb Philharmonic Orchestra, playing Beethoven's Piano Concerto No. 3. Her performance was praised for its sensitivity and musicality, with the orchestra's conductor, Dmitri Kitayenko, describing her as a "remarkable talent." Nina's musical career has been marked by numerous awards and accolades. In addition to the prizes she has won at international competitions, she has also been awarded the Croatian Ministry of Culture's Young Musician of the Year award twice, in 2010 and 2012. She was also awarded the City of Zagreb's Medal of Honor for her contributions to the arts in 2014. Despite her success, Nina remains humble and dedicated to her craft. She continues to practice for several hours a day, striving to improve her technique and musicality.
