Camerata Freden is a classical music ensemble that was founded in 1990 in the small town of Freden, Germany. The ensemble is known for its unique blend of traditional and contemporary classical music, and has gained a reputation for its innovative programming and high-quality performances. The founding members of Camerata Freden were a group of young musicians who had recently graduated from music conservatories in Germany and were looking for a way to continue playing together. They decided to form an ensemble that would focus on chamber music, and chose the name Camerata Freden in honor of their hometown. The original members of the ensemble were violinists Andreas Krecher and Susanne Scholz, violist Hartmut Rohde, cellist Xenia Jankovic, and pianist Oliver Triendl. Over the years, the ensemble has undergone some changes in membership, but has always maintained a core group of musicians who are dedicated to the ensemble's mission and vision. One of the highlights of Camerata Freden's early years was its participation in the prestigious International Chamber Music Competition in Osaka, Japan in 1993. The ensemble won first prize in the competition, which helped to establish its reputation as a rising star in the world of classical music. Since then, Camerata Freden has gone on to perform at some of the most prestigious concert halls and music festivals in Europe and around the world. The ensemble has collaborated with many renowned musicians and composers, including Heinz Holliger, György Kurtág, and Wolfgang Rihm. One of the hallmarks of Camerata Freden's performances is its commitment to exploring new and innovative approaches to classical music. The ensemble has commissioned many new works from contemporary composers, and has also developed its own unique arrangements of traditional classical pieces. In addition to its performances, Camerata Freden is also committed to music education and outreach.
