María Dueñas is a renowned classical music artist who has made a name for herself as a violinist. Born on October 10, 1989, in Madrid, Spain, Dueñas showed an early interest in music and began playing the violin at the age of four. Her parents, both musicians, recognized her talent and encouraged her to pursue a career in music. Dueñas received her early musical education at the Royal Conservatory of Music in Madrid, where she studied with renowned violinist Zakhar Bron. She later continued her studies at the Hochschule für Musik Hanns Eisler in Berlin, Germany, where she studied with Antje Weithaas. Dueñas made her debut as a soloist at the age of 12, performing with the Madrid Symphony Orchestra. Since then, she has performed with many of the world's leading orchestras, including the Berlin Philharmonic, the London Symphony Orchestra, the New York Philharmonic, and the Tokyo Symphony Orchestra. Dueñas has also won numerous awards and accolades for her performances. In 2006, she won first prize at the International Violin Competition "Vasco Abadjiev" in Bulgaria. She also won first prize at the International Violin Competition "Pablo Sarasate" in Spain in 2009. Dueñas has performed at some of the world's most prestigious concert halls, including Carnegie Hall in New York, the Royal Albert Hall in London, and the Berlin Philharmonic Hall. She has also performed at many international music festivals, including the Salzburg Festival, the Lucerne Festival, and the Tanglewood Music Festival. Dueñas is known for her passionate and expressive playing, as well as her technical virtuosity. She has a particular affinity for the music of the Romantic era, and has recorded several albums of works by composers such as Brahms, Tchaikovsky, and Sibelius. In addition to her career as a soloist, Dueñas is also a dedicated chamber musician. She has performed with many of the world's leading chamber ensembles, including the Emerson String Quartet and the Guarneri Quartet. Dueñas is also committed to music education, and has taught masterclasses at many institutions around the world. She is currently a professor of violin at the Hochschule für Musik Hanns Eisler in Berlin. In recognition of her contributions to the world of classical music, Dueñas has been awarded numerous honors and awards. In 2015, she was awarded the Order of Civil Merit by the Spanish government, and in 2017 she was awarded the Medal of Honor by the City of Madrid. Despite her many accomplishments, Dueñas remains humble and dedicated to her craft.
