Born on August 7, 1943, in São João da Boa Vista, São Paulo, Brazil, Turíbio Santos began his musical journey at a young age. He was introduced to the guitar by his father, who was a guitarist himself. Turíbio Santos showed a natural talent for the instrument and began taking lessons from his father. At the age of 12, Turíbio Santos gave his first public performance, and by the age of 15, he had won his first guitar competition. He continued to study music and guitar, and in 1960, he won the prestigious International Guitar Competition in Geneva, Switzerland. This was a significant achievement for Turíbio Santos, as it was the first time a Brazilian had won the competition. After his win in Geneva, Turíbio Santos began to gain international recognition as a classical guitarist.
