Birth:1986 in Munich, GermanyValentin Radutiu is a Romanian-born cellist who has established himself as one of the most exciting and versatile musicians of his generation. Born on May 22, 1986, in Bucharest, Romania, Radutiu began playing the cello at the age of six. He showed an early talent for the instrument and was soon accepted into the George Enescu Music School in Bucharest, where he studied with Professor Marin Cazacu. Radutiu's talent was quickly recognized, and he began to win awards and competitions at a young age. In 2002, he won first prize at the International Cello Competition in Liezen, Austria, and in 2003, he won first prize at the International Cello Competition in Padua, Italy. These early successes paved the way for a career as a professional cellist. In 2004, Radutiu moved to Germany to study at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater in Munich with Professor Wen-Sinn Yang. He continued to win awards and competitions, including first prize at the International Johannes Brahms Competition in Pörtschach, Austria, in 2006, and first prize at the International Antonio Janigro Cello Competition in Zagreb, Croatia, in 2007. Radutiu's career as a soloist began to take off in the late 2000s. In 2008, he made his debut with the Munich Chamber Orchestra, performing Haydn's Cello Concerto No. 1 in C major. He also performed with the Munich Symphony Orchestra, the Zagreb Philharmonic Orchestra, and the Romanian National Radio Orchestra, among others. In 2010, Radutiu won the prestigious German Music Competition, which led to numerous engagements as a soloist with major orchestras throughout Germany. He also began to perform internationally, making his debut in the United States in 2011 with the New York Chamber Soloists. Radutiu's repertoire is wide-ranging, encompassing works from the Baroque era to contemporary music. He has a particular affinity for the music of J.S. Bach, and has performed the complete cycle of Bach's six cello suites in numerous venues throughout Europe and the United States. In addition to his career as a soloist, Radutiu is also an active chamber musician. He has performed with some of the world's leading musicians, including pianist Menahem Pressler, violinist Christian Tetzlaff, and cellist Jan Vogler. He is a member of the Trio Parnassus, a piano trio that has been praised for its "exquisite playing" and "perfect ensemble." Radutiu's recordings have received critical acclaim. His debut CD, released in 2012, features works by Schumann, Brahms, and Dvořák, and was praised by Gramophone magazine for its "warmth, sensitivity, and technical brilliance." His recording of Bach's cello suites, released in 2017, was described by The Strad as "a deeply personal and insightful interpretation." Radutiu has received numerous awards and honors throughout his career. In addition to the awards mentioned above, he was awarded the prestigious Borletti-Buitoni Trust Fellowship in 2012, which provides financial support and career guidance to exceptional young musicians. He was also named a BBC New Generation Artist in 2013, which led to numerous performances and recordings for the BBC. Despite his many accomplishments, Radutiu remains humble and dedicated to his craft. He continues to perform regularly as a soloist and chamber musician, and is committed to bringing classical music to new audiences. He is also passionate about teaching, and has given masterclasses at universities and music schools throughout Europe and the United States.More....
