Margit Sehlmark was born on May 12, 1985, in Stockholm, Sweden. She grew up in a family of musicians, with her mother being a pianist and her father a cellist. From a young age, Margit showed a natural talent for music and began playing the violin at the age of four. Margit's parents recognized her potential and encouraged her to pursue a career in music. She began taking lessons with renowned violinists in Sweden and quickly gained recognition for her exceptional talent. At the age of 12, Margit won her first major competition, the Swedish National Youth Music Competition. Margit continued to excel in her studies and was accepted into the Royal College of Music in Stockholm at the age of 16. She studied under the guidance of Professor Lars Anders Tomter, one of Sweden's most respected violinists. Margit's talent and dedication to her craft were evident, and she quickly became one of the top students in her class. After completing her studies at the Royal College of Music, Margit was accepted into the prestigious Juilliard School in New York City. She studied under the tutelage of Itzhak Perlman, one of the world's most renowned violinists. Margit's time at Juilliard was a transformative experience, and she credits Perlman with helping her develop her unique style and sound. Margit's career as a professional violinist began in earnest after she graduated from Juilliard. She quickly gained recognition for her exceptional talent and was invited to perform with some of the world's most prestigious orchestras, including the New York Philharmonic, the London Symphony Orchestra, and the Berlin Philharmonic. Margit's performances were always met with critical acclaim, and she quickly became known for her technical prowess and emotional depth. Throughout her career, Margit has received numerous awards and accolades for her performances. In 2010, she was awarded the Avery Fisher Career Grant, one of the most prestigious awards in classical music. She has performed with some of the world's most renowned chamber ensembles, including the Emerson String Quartet and the Guarneri Quartet.
