L'Amoroso is a classical music ensemble that was founded in 2001 by violinist and conductor, Stefano Montanari. The ensemble is based in Italy and is known for its performances of Baroque and Classical music. Stefano Montanari, who was born in Bologna, Italy in 1968, is the founder and artistic director of L'Amoroso. He began his musical career as a violinist and studied at the Conservatory of Bologna. He later went on to study with renowned violinist and conductor, Claudio Abbado, at the European Community Youth Orchestra. Montanari has performed with many of the world's leading orchestras, including the Berlin Philharmonic, the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, and the Orchestra dell'Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia. Montanari founded L'Amoroso with the goal of creating a chamber ensemble that would specialize in the performance of Baroque and Classical music. The ensemble's name, which means "the loving one" in Italian, reflects Montanari's passion for the music of this period. The ensemble's main members include Stefano Montanari on violin, Luca Peverini on cello, and Francesco Romano on harpsichord. The ensemble also collaborates with a number of guest musicians, including sopranos Roberta Invernizzi and Maria Grazia Schiavo, and countertenor Filippo Mineccia. L'Amoroso has performed at many of the world's leading concert halls and festivals, including the Salzburg Festival, the Edinburgh International Festival, and the Berliner Philharmonie.
