Justin Doyle is a renowned conductor and pianist in the world of classical music. Born in 1979 in the United Kingdom, Doyle showed an early interest in music and began playing the piano at the age of five. He grew up in a musical family, with his father being a professional cellist and his mother a music teacher. Doyle’s talent for music was evident from a young age, and he went on to study at the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester. He graduated with a degree in piano performance and continued his studies at the Royal College of Music in London, where he earned a master’s degree in conducting. Throughout his career, Doyle has worked with some of the most prestigious orchestras and opera companies in the world. He has conducted the London Symphony Orchestra, the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, the BBC Symphony Orchestra, and the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment, among others. He has also worked with the English National Opera, the Royal Opera House, and the Glyndebourne Festival Opera. One of Doyle’s most notable performances was his debut with the London Symphony Orchestra in 2012. He conducted a program of works by Mozart, Beethoven, and Brahms, receiving critical acclaim for his “sensitive and nuanced” interpretation of the music. Since then, he has been invited back to conduct the orchestra on several occasions. In addition to his work as a conductor, Doyle is also an accomplished pianist. In 2016, Doyle was appointed the Chief Conductor and Artistic Director of the RIAS Kammerchor in Berlin. The choir, which was founded in 1948, is one of the most renowned vocal ensembles in Europe. Under Doyle’s leadership, the choir has continued to perform at the highest level, receiving critical acclaim for their performances of works by Bach, Handel, and Mendelssohn. Doyle’s commitment to promoting new music has also been a hallmark of his career. He has conducted world premieres of works by composers such as Mark-Anthony Turnage, Thomas Adès, and George Benjamin. He has also worked with young composers through his role as the Artistic Director of the Young Composers’ Academy at the Royal Opera House.
