Marianne Pousseur is a Belgian classical music artist who has made a name for herself as a soprano, composer, and director. Born on October 20, 1959, in Verviers, Belgium, Pousseur grew up in a family of musicians. Her father Henri Pousseur was a composer and her mother was a pianist. From a young age, Pousseur was exposed to classical music and began singing in choirs. Pousseur studied at the Royal Conservatory of Liège, where she received a degree in singing. She continued her studies at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris, where she studied with renowned vocal coach Jane Berbié. Pousseur also studied with other notable coaches such as Pierre Bernac, Dalton Baldwin, and Elly Ameling. Pousseur made her professional debut in 1983 at the Théâtre Royal de la Monnaie in Brussels, where she performed the role of the Countess in Mozart's The Marriage of Figaro.
