Andrew Blanch is a classical guitarist from Australia who has gained international recognition for his virtuosic performances and musical interpretations. Born in 1993 in Sydney, Blanch began playing the guitar at the age of six and quickly showed a natural talent for the instrument. He received his early training from his father, a guitarist and composer, and later studied with renowned guitarists such as Vladimir Gorbach and Timothy Kain. Blanch's musical education also included studies in music theory, composition, and performance at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, where he earned a Bachelor of Music degree with First Class Honours. He went on to pursue a Master of Music degree at the Australian National University, where he was awarded the prestigious Friends of the ANU School of Music Award for Excellence in Performance. Blanch's career as a professional musician began to take off in 2016, when he won first prize in the Melbourne International Guitar Competition. This victory brought him to the attention of the international classical music community and led to numerous performance opportunities in Australia and abroad. He has since performed at major venues and festivals in Europe, Asia, and North America, including the Wigmore Hall in London, the Shanghai Oriental Art Center, and the Guitar Foundation of America Convention. In addition to his solo performances, Blanch is also an active chamber musician and collaborator. He has performed with a variety of ensembles, including the Australian Guitar Duo, the Canberra Symphony Orchestra, and the Sydney Symphony Orchestra. He has also collaborated with other musicians and artists in interdisciplinary projects that combine music, dance, and visual art. In addition to his Melbourne International Guitar Competition victory, he has won first prize in the Whitworth Roach Classical Music Competition and the ANU Chamber Music Competition.
