Johannes Flieder was born on May 12, 1985, in Vienna, Austria. He was born into a family of musicians, and his parents were both professional classical musicians. His father was a renowned cellist, and his mother was a pianist. From a young age, Johannes showed a keen interest in music, and his parents encouraged him to pursue his passion. Johannes began his musical education at the age of four, when he started taking piano lessons with his mother. He quickly showed a natural talent for the instrument, and by the age of six, he was already performing in public. At the age of eight, he started studying the violin, and he soon became proficient in both instruments. In 1995, when Johannes was ten years old, he won first prize in the prestigious International Piano Competition for Young Musicians in Vienna. This was a major achievement for such a young musician, and it marked the beginning of his career as a professional musician. Over the next few years, Johannes continued to win numerous awards and accolades for his performances. In 1998, he won first prize in the International Violin Competition in Salzburg, and in 2001, he won the Grand Prix at the International Piano Competition in Moscow. Johannes' talent and dedication to music led him to study at some of the most prestigious music schools in Europe. He studied piano at the Vienna Conservatory and the Salzburg Mozarteum, and he also studied violin at the Paris Conservatory and the Royal Academy of Music in London. Throughout his career, Johannes has performed with some of the world's leading orchestras, including the Vienna Philharmonic, the Berlin Philharmonic, and the London Symphony Orchestra. He has also performed in some of the world's most prestigious concert halls, including Carnegie Hall in New York, the Royal Albert Hall in London, and the Musikverein in Vienna. One of Johannes' most memorable performances was his solo recital at the Salzburg Festival in 2005. He performed a program of works by Mozart, Beethoven, and Schubert, and his performance was hailed as a triumph by critics and audiences alike. In addition to his performances as a soloist, Johannes is also an accomplished chamber musician. He has performed with some of the world's leading chamber ensembles, including the Emerson String Quartet and the Guarneri Quartet. Johannes' recordings have also received critical acclaim. His recording of Beethoven's Piano Concerto No. 5 with the Vienna Philharmonic was nominated for a Grammy Award in 2010, and his recording of Mozart's Violin Concerto No. 3 with the Berlin Philharmonic was named "Recording of the Year" by Gramophone magazine in 2012. Despite his success as a musician, Johannes remains humble and dedicated to his craft. He continues to practice for several hours a day, and he is always looking for ways to improve his playing. He is also passionate about teaching, and he has taught masterclasses at some of the world's leading music schools. In recognition of his contributions to classical music, Johannes has received numerous awards and honors. In 2014, he was awarded the Order of Merit of the Republic of Austria, and in 2016, he was named a "Young Global Leader" by the World Economic Forum.
