Consensus Vocalis is a Dutch classical music choir that was founded in 2006. The choir is known for its exceptional performances of choral music from various periods, including the Renaissance, Baroque, Classical, Romantic, and contemporary eras. Consensus Vocalis has gained a reputation for its unique sound, which is characterized by its precision, clarity, and expressive power. The choir was founded by conductor Klaas Stok, who is also the artistic director of the Netherlands Chamber Choir. Stok had a vision of creating a choir that would be dedicated to performing choral music at the highest level of excellence. Consensus Vocalis made its debut performance in 2006, with a concert at the Muziekgebouw aan 't IJ in Amsterdam. In addition to its performances, Consensus Vocalis has also been recognized for its recordings. The choir has released several albums on the Challenge Classics label, including a critically acclaimed recording of Bach's Mass in B Minor. The album was praised for its clarity of sound, expressive power, and technical precision. Consensus Vocalis has received numerous awards and accolades for its performances and recordings. In 2010, the choir was awarded the prestigious VSCD Classical Music Prize, which is presented annually to the best classical music ensemble in the Netherlands. The jury praised Consensus Vocalis for its "exceptional musical quality" and its ability to "touch the hearts of audiences." Consensus Vocalis has continued to grow and evolve over the years, under the leadership of Klaas Stok. The choir has expanded its repertoire to include works from a wide range of musical periods and styles, and has collaborated with some of the world's leading musicians and ensembles.
