Michael Posch is a renowned classical music artist who has made a significant contribution to the world of music. He was born on 22nd September 1962 in Graz, Austria. From a young age, Michael showed a keen interest in music, and his parents encouraged him to pursue his passion. He started playing the recorder at the age of six and later learned to play the flute and the oboe. Michael's musical journey began when he joined the Graz Boys' Choir at the age of eight. He received his first formal music education at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Graz, where he studied the oboe under the guidance of Professor Helmut Zehetmair. Michael's talent and dedication to music were evident from the start, and he quickly became one of the most promising students in his class. After completing his studies, Michael began his professional career as a musician. He joined the Vienna State Opera Orchestra as an oboist and played with them for several years. During this time, he also performed with other renowned orchestras such as the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra and the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra. In addition to his work as an oboist, Michael also developed an interest in conducting. He studied conducting under the guidance of Professor Karl Österreicher at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna. Michael's talent as a conductor was soon recognized, and he was invited to conduct several orchestras, including the Vienna Chamber Orchestra and the Graz Philharmonic Orchestra. Michael's career as a conductor took off in the early 1990s when he was appointed as the principal conductor of the Graz Opera. He held this position for several years and conducted numerous productions, including Mozart's "The Marriage of Figaro" and Verdi's "La Traviata." Michael's innovative approach to conducting and his ability to bring out the best in his musicians earned him critical acclaim and a loyal following. In addition to his work as a conductor, Michael also continued to perform as an oboist. He was a member of the Ensemble Unicorn, a renowned early music ensemble, and performed with them at major music festivals around the world. Michael's performances were always well-received, and he was praised for his technical skill and musicality. Over the years, Michael has received numerous awards and accolades for his contributions to the world of music. In 1995, he was awarded the Austrian Cross of Honour for Science and Art, and in 2002, he received the Styrian Culture Prize. Michael has also been invited to serve on the juries of several international music competitions, including the ARD International Music Competition and the Prague Spring International Music Competition. Today, Michael continues to be an active musician and conductor. He is the artistic director of the Styriarte Festival, a major music festival held annually in Graz.
