Maxime Pascal is a French conductor who has made a name for himself in the classical music world. Born in 1985 in Paris, Pascal grew up in a family of musicians and was exposed to classical music from a young age. He began playing the piano at the age of six and later took up the trumpet. Pascal studied at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris, where he trained as a conductor under the guidance of renowned conductors such as Pierre Boulez and Sir Simon Rattle. He also studied with the composer and conductor Peter Eötvös. Pascal made his conducting debut in 2010 with the Ensemble Intercontemporain, a Paris-based contemporary music ensemble founded by Boulez. He quickly gained recognition for his innovative programming and dynamic performances, and was soon invited to conduct other leading orchestras and ensembles around the world. One of Pascal's most notable performances was his debut with the London Symphony Orchestra in 2016, where he conducted a program of works by Ligeti, Bartók, and Stravinsky. The performance was widely praised for its energy and precision, and cemented Pascal's reputation as a rising star in the classical music world. Pascal has also been recognized for his work in contemporary music, and has collaborated with many leading composers of our time, including Eötvös, George Benjamin, and Matthias Pintscher.
