Robert Buckland was born on May 22, 1970, in London, England. He grew up in a family of musicians, with his father being a professional cellist and his mother a pianist. From a young age, Buckland showed a natural talent for music, and he began playing the clarinet at the age of eight. Buckland's early musical education was primarily focused on classical music, and he quickly became a skilled performer. He attended the Royal Academy of Music in London, where he studied under the renowned clarinetist Jack Brymer. During his time at the academy, Buckland won several awards for his performances, including the prestigious Queen's Commendation for Excellence. After completing his studies, Buckland began his professional career as a freelance musician, performing with a variety of orchestras and ensembles throughout the UK. He quickly gained a reputation as one of the country's most talented clarinetists, and he was soon in high demand for both live performances and studio recordings.
