Stech's parents recognized his talent and encouraged him to pursue a career in music. He began his formal training at the Berlin Conservatory, where he studied under some of the most renowned music teachers of the time. He continued to perform with the Berlin Philharmonic and other major orchestras around the world, earning critical acclaim for his virtuosity and musicality. Over the course of his career, Stech performed a wide range of classical music, from the works of Bach and Mozart to the more modern compositions of Stravinsky and Shostakovich. He was particularly renowned for his interpretations of Beethoven's piano sonatas, which he performed with great passion and intensity. Stech's talent was not limited to the piano, however. He was also an accomplished conductor and composer, and he often conducted his own compositions in concert.
