Born on May 17, 1973, in Stockholm, Sweden, Zilliacus grew up in a family of musicians. Her father, Bengt Zilliacus, was a well-known pianist, and her mother, Eva Zilliacus, was a violinist. Zilliacus started playing the violin at the age of four and showed exceptional talent from an early age. Zilliacus received her first violin lessons from her mother and later studied at the Royal College of Music in Stockholm. She continued her studies at the Sibelius Academy in Helsinki, Finland, where she received her diploma in 1997. During her studies, Zilliacus had the opportunity to work with some of the most renowned violinists of the time, including Zakhar Bron, Ana Chumachenco, and Miriam Fried.
