Tebogo Monnakgotla is a South African classical music composer who has made a significant impact on the music industry in his home country and beyond. Born on August 12, 1985, in the small town of Mafikeng, Monnakgotla grew up in a family that valued education and the arts. His parents were both teachers, and they encouraged him to pursue his passion for music from a young age. Monnakgotla began his musical journey by learning to play the piano at the age of six. He quickly showed a natural talent for the instrument and began to take lessons from a local music teacher. After completing his high school education, Monnakgotla enrolled at the University of Cape Town to study music composition. One of Monnakgotla's most significant works to date is "The Freedom Symphony," which was premiered in 2016. The piece was commissioned by the South African government to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the country's first democratic elections.
