Born in 1953 in New York City, Joanne grew up in a family of musicians and was exposed to classical music from a young age. Her father was a violinist, and her mother was a pianist, so it was only natural that Joanne would follow in their footsteps. Joanne began playing the piano at the age of four and quickly showed a natural talent for the instrument. She began taking lessons with her mother and later studied with renowned pianists such as Rosina Lhevinne and John Perry. Joanne's talent was evident from an early age, and she won numerous competitions and awards throughout her childhood and teenage years. After completing her undergraduate studies at the Juilliard School, Joanne went on to earn a Master's degree from the University of Southern California.
