Anna Pollak was born on May 15, 1985, in Vienna, Austria. She was born into a family of musicians, with her father being a renowned pianist and her mother a violinist. From a young age, Anna was exposed to classical music and began playing the violin at the age of four. Anna's talent was quickly recognized, and she began performing in public at the age of six. She went on to study at the Vienna Conservatory, where she received her Bachelor's and Master's degrees in violin performance. During her studies, Anna was awarded numerous prizes and scholarships, including the prestigious Herbert von Karajan Scholarship. After completing her studies, Anna began her professional career as a soloist and chamber musician. She quickly gained recognition for her virtuosic playing and expressive interpretations. Her performances were praised for their technical brilliance and emotional depth. One of Anna's most memorable performances was at the Salzburg Festival in 2008. She performed the Brahms Violin Concerto with the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra, under the baton of conductor Daniel Barenboim. The performance was hailed as a triumph, with critics praising Anna's "dazzling technique" and "soulful playing." Anna's career continued to flourish, and she went on to perform with some of the world's leading orchestras, including the Berlin Philharmonic, the New York Philharmonic, and the London Symphony Orchestra. She also collaborated with many of the world's most renowned conductors, including Sir Simon Rattle, Riccardo Muti, and Zubin Mehta. In addition to her solo career, Anna was also an active chamber musician. She was a founding member of the Pollak Quartet, which quickly gained a reputation as one of the most exciting young string quartets in Europe. The quartet performed extensively throughout Europe and Asia, and their recordings were widely praised for their technical precision and musical sensitivity. Anna's talent and hard work were recognized with numerous awards and honors throughout her career. In 2010, she was awarded the Austrian State Prize for Music, one of the country's highest honors for musicians. She was also a recipient of the Borletti-Buitoni Trust Award, which recognizes outstanding young musicians and provides them with financial support and career guidance. Tragically, Anna's career was cut short when she was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer in 2013. Despite her illness, she continued to perform and record, inspiring audiences and fellow musicians with her courage and determination. Anna passed away on June 12, 2014, at the age of 29. Anna Pollak was a gifted musician whose talent and passion for music inspired audiences and fellow musicians alike.
