Olivier Baumont is a renowned French harpsichordist and pianist, known for his exceptional musicianship and technical prowess. Born in 1960 in Paris, Baumont began his musical training at a young age, studying piano and harpsichord at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris. Baumont's talent was quickly recognized, and he began performing professionally while still a student. In 1983, he won first prize at the International Harpsichord Competition in Bruges, Belgium, launching his career as a soloist and chamber musician. Over the years, Baumont has performed with some of the world's leading orchestras and ensembles, including the Orchestre de Paris, the English Chamber Orchestra, and Les Arts Florissants. He has also collaborated with many of the most celebrated conductors and musicians of our time, including William Christie, Philippe Herreweghe, and Jordi Savall. Baumont's repertoire is vast and varied, encompassing works from the Baroque era to the present day. He is particularly renowned for his interpretations of the music of Johann Sebastian Bach, and has recorded several acclaimed albums of Bach's keyboard works. In addition to his work as a performer, Baumont is also a respected teacher and scholar. He has taught at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris, as well as at the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis in Switzerland. He has also published several scholarly articles and books on the history and performance of early music.
