Tapestry is a classical music ensemble that has been captivating audiences with their unique blend of vocal harmonies and innovative programming since their founding in 1995. The group is made up of four members: Laurie Monahan, Daniela Tosic, Cristi Catt, and Daniela Tošić. Each member brings a wealth of experience and talent to the group, making Tapestry one of the most respected and sought-after ensembles in the classical music world. The founding of Tapestry can be traced back to the early 1990s, when Laurie Monahan and Cristi Catt were both studying at the New England Conservatory of Music in Boston. They quickly discovered a shared passion for early music and vocal harmony, and began performing together as a duo. In 1995, they were joined by Daniela Tosic, a fellow student at the conservatory, and the three of them formed Tapestry. From the beginning, Tapestry set out to create a unique sound that blended the traditional music of the medieval and Renaissance periods with contemporary influences. They drew inspiration from a wide range of sources, including folk music, jazz, and world music, and incorporated these elements into their performances. This innovative approach quickly caught the attention of audiences and critics alike, and Tapestry began to gain a reputation as one of the most exciting and dynamic ensembles in the classical music world. Over the years, Tapestry has performed at some of the most prestigious venues and festivals in the world, including the Boston Early Music Festival, the Edinburgh International Festival, and the Festival Oude Muziek in Utrecht, Netherlands. They have also collaborated with a number of other musicians and ensembles, including the Boston Camerata, the Huelgas Ensemble, and the Tallis Scholars. One of the highlights of Tapestry's career came in 2006, when they released their critically acclaimed album "Song of Songs: Come into My Garden." The album, which featured a collection of medieval and Renaissance love songs, was praised for its beautiful vocal harmonies and innovative arrangements. It went on to win the prestigious Echo Klassik award in Germany, cementing Tapestry's reputation as one of the most talented and innovative ensembles in the classical music world. In addition to their performances and recordings, Tapestry is also committed to education and outreach. They have conducted workshops and masterclasses for students and musicians around the world, and have worked with a number of organizations to promote early music and vocal harmony. They are also dedicated to promoting the work of female composers and musicians, and have commissioned and premiered a number of works by women over the years.
