Jeanine De Bique is a Trinidadian soprano who has made a name for herself in the world of classical music. Born on October 17, 1979, in Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago, De Bique grew up in a musical family. Her mother was a singer and her father played the guitar, and they both encouraged her to pursue music from a young age. De Bique began her musical training at the age of six, studying the piano and violin. She later joined the Trinidad and Tobago Youth Philharmonic Orchestra, where she played the violin and sang in the choir. It was during this time that she discovered her love for singing and decided to pursue it as a career. In 1998, De Bique moved to the United States to attend the Manhattan School of Music in New York City. She then went on to earn her Master of Music degree from the Juilliard School in 2004, where she studied with Cynthia Hoffmann. She has also worked with some of the most renowned conductors in the world, including Sir Simon Rattle, Gustavo Dudamel, and Sir Antonio Pappano. One of De Bique's most notable performances was her portrayal of the title role in Handel's "Semele" at the Glimmerglass Festival in 2017.
