Born on December 12, 1978, in Tokyo, Japan, Seo showed an early interest in music and began playing the piano at the age of four. His parents recognized his talent and enrolled him in music lessons, where he quickly excelled. Seo's passion for music continued to grow, and he began studying at the Tokyo National University of Fine Arts and Music. He graduated with a degree in piano performance and went on to pursue a master's degree at the same institution. During his studies, Seo was mentored by some of the most respected musicians in Japan, including pianist Hiroko Nakamura and conductor Seiji Ozawa. Seo's talent and dedication to his craft quickly caught the attention of the music world, and he began performing in prestigious venues across Japan. In 2002, he won the first prize at the PTNA Piano Competition, one of the most prestigious piano competitions in Japan. This win marked the beginning of Seo's international career, and he soon began performing in Europe and the United States. One of Seo's most notable performances was at the 2005 Chopin International Piano Competition in Warsaw, Poland. He was the first Japanese pianist to reach the finals of the competition, and his performance was praised for its technical brilliance and emotional depth. Although he did not win the competition, Seo's performance earned him international recognition and opened the door to many new opportunities. Seo has since performed with some of the world's most renowned orchestras, including the Berlin Philharmonic, the London Symphony Orchestra, and the New York Philharmonic. He has also collaborated with many esteemed conductors, including Daniel Barenboim, Zubin Mehta, and Riccardo Muti. In addition to his performances, Seo is also a respected music educator.
