Trio Portici is a classical music ensemble that was founded in 2008. The group consists of three members: violinist Maria, cellist Luca, and pianist Marco. The ensemble is named after the famous porticoes of Bologna, Italy, where the group first began playing together. Maria, Luca, and Marco all met while studying at the Conservatory of Bologna. They quickly discovered a shared passion for chamber music and began playing together in various ensembles. However, it wasn't until they formed Trio Portici that they truly found their musical home. The ensemble's repertoire is primarily focused on classical and romantic era music, with a particular emphasis on the works of Beethoven, Brahms, and Schubert. However, they also enjoy exploring lesser-known works and contemporary compositions. Trio Portici has performed in numerous venues throughout Italy and Europe, including the Teatro Comunale di Bologna, the Accademia Filarmonica di Bologna, and the Palazzo dei Congressi in Rome. They have also been invited to perform at several international music festivals, including the Festival de Musique de Menton in France and the Festival Internacional de Música de Cámara de Aguascalientes in Mexico. One of the ensemble's most notable performances was at the 2012 International Chamber Music Competition in Hamburg, Germany. They were awarded first prize in the piano trio category, which helped to raise their profile and bring them to the attention of a wider audience. In addition to their live performances, Trio Portici has also released several recordings. Their debut album, released in 2010, featured works by Beethoven and Brahms. Their second album, released in 2014, focused on the music of Schubert. Despite their success, Trio Portici remains committed to their roots in Bologna. They frequently perform in local venues and are actively involved in promoting classical music in the city. They have also established a scholarship fund to support young musicians studying at the Conservatory of Bologna. In conclusion, Trio Portici is a talented and dedicated classical music ensemble that has made a significant impact on the music world. Their commitment to exploring both well-known and lesser-known works has helped to broaden the horizons of classical music audiences. With their passion and skill, they are sure to continue making beautiful music for years to come.
