Adam LaMotte is a renowned classical music artist who has made a name for himself as a violinist, conductor, and composer. Born in 1978 in Portland, Oregon, LaMotte grew up in a family of musicians and was exposed to classical music from a young age. His father was a professional cellist, and his mother was a pianist and music teacher. LaMotte began playing the violin at the age of four and quickly showed a natural talent for the instrument. As a child, LaMotte studied with renowned violin teachers such as Dorothy DeLay and Itzhak Perlman. He also attended the Juilliard School in New York City, where he earned a Bachelor of Music degree in violin performance. After graduating from Juilliard, LaMotte went on to study conducting at the University of Washington in Seattle. Throughout his career, LaMotte has performed with some of the world's most prestigious orchestras and ensembles. He has been a guest soloist with the Seattle Symphony, the Oregon Symphony, and the Portland Baroque Orchestra, among others. He has also performed at major music festivals such as the Oregon Bach Festival and the Carmel Bach Festival. In addition to his work as a performer, LaMotte is also an accomplished composer and arranger. He has written numerous pieces for solo violin, as well as chamber music and orchestral works. His compositions have been performed by ensembles such as the Seattle Symphony and the Oregon Symphony. One of the highlights of LaMotte's career was his appointment as the concertmaster of the Portland Baroque Orchestra in 2007. As concertmaster, LaMotte was responsible for leading the orchestra and performing as a soloist in many of their concerts. He held this position for six years, during which time he helped to establish the orchestra as one of the leading Baroque ensembles in the United States. LaMotte has also received numerous awards and accolades for his work as a musician. In 2003, he was awarded the prestigious Avery Fisher Career Grant, which is given to outstanding young musicians who show exceptional promise for a career in classical music. He has also been a recipient of the Seattle Mayor's Arts Award and the Oregon Arts Commission's Individual Artist Fellowship. In recent years, LaMotte has focused on his work as a conductor. He has conducted orchestras such as the Seattle Symphony, the Oregon Symphony, and the Portland Baroque Orchestra. He has also been a guest conductor at music festivals such as the Oregon Bach Festival and the Victoria Bach Festival. Despite his many accomplishments, LaMotte remains humble and dedicated to his craft.
