She was the daughter of a fisherman and grew up in a small town in the province of Ferrara. Milva's passion for music began at a young age, and she started singing in local festivals and events. In 1959, Milva participated in the prestigious Sanremo Music Festival, where she performed the song "Il mare nel cassetto" and won the competition. This victory marked the beginning of her successful career in the music industry. Milva's unique voice and powerful stage presence quickly gained her popularity in Italy and beyond. Throughout the 1960s, Milva released several hit songs, including "Tango italiano," "La filanda," and "La risposta della novia." She also collaborated with renowned Italian composers and songwriters, such as Ennio Morricone, Bruno Canfora, and Giorgio Strehler. In 1962, Milva made her acting debut in the film "La bellezza di Ippolita," directed by Giancarlo Zagni. She went on to appear in several other films, including "La ragazza con la valigia" (1961), "La notte" (1961), and "La corruzione" (1963).
