He later went on to study at the Conservatorio di Musica "Giuseppe Verdi" in Milan, where he received his diploma in harpsichord performance. After completing his studies, de Marchi began his career as a soloist and chamber musician, performing extensively throughout Europe and the United States. In 1987, he founded the Accademia Hermans, a period-instrument ensemble dedicated to the performance of Baroque and Classical music. He has also worked with many of the world's most renowned soloists, including Cecilia Bartoli, Andreas Scholl, and Philippe Jaroussky.
