Born on 12th May 1975 in London, England, Berridge showed an early interest in music and began playing the piano at the age of six. Berridge attended the Royal Academy of Music in London, where he studied under the guidance of renowned pianist and teacher, Christopher Elton. He graduated with a Bachelor of Music degree in 1997 and went on to complete his Master of Music degree in 1999. In 1996, he won the prestigious Harold Craxton Prize for his outstanding performance in the piano department. He also won the Dorothy Bryant Award in 1997, which is awarded to the most promising pianist in the final year of study. After completing his studies, Berridge began his professional career as a concert pianist.
