Born on May 5, 1976, in Paris, France, Bres showed an early interest in music and began playing the cello at the age of six. He was encouraged by his parents, who were both musicians themselves, and he quickly developed a passion for the instrument. Bres began his formal music education at the Conservatoire National de Région de Paris, where he studied under the tutelage of renowned cellist Philippe Muller. He continued his studies at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris, where he earned his diploma in cello performance with honors. After completing his studies, Bres began performing professionally as a soloist and chamber musician. He quickly gained a reputation for his technical skill and musical sensitivity, and he was soon invited to perform at some of the world's most prestigious concert halls, including Carnegie Hall in New York, the Royal Albert Hall in London, and the Berlin Philharmonic. In addition to his work as a cellist, Bres also began conducting orchestras and ensembles. He studied conducting with renowned maestros such as Pierre Boulez and Daniel Barenboim, and he quickly developed a reputation as a skilled and insightful conductor. One of Bres's most notable performances as a cellist came in 2003, when he performed the Dvorak Cello Concerto with the Berlin Philharmonic under the baton of Sir Simon Rattle. The performance was widely praised for its emotional depth and technical precision, and it helped to establish Bres as one of the leading cellists of his generation. Bres's work as a conductor has also been widely acclaimed. In 2010, he was appointed as the principal conductor of the Orchestre National de Lille, one of France's leading orchestras. Under his leadership, the orchestra has gained a reputation for its innovative programming and dynamic performances. In addition to his work as a performer and conductor, Bres is also a dedicated teacher. He has taught masterclasses at some of the world's leading music schools, including the Juilliard School in New York and the Royal Academy of Music in London. He is known for his patient and insightful teaching style, and many of his students have gone on to successful careers as musicians. Bres has received numerous awards and honors throughout his career. In 2005, he was awarded the prestigious Victoire de la Musique award for his recording of the Bach Cello Suites. He has also been awarded the Chevalier de l'Ordre des Arts et des Lettres by the French government in recognition of his contributions to the arts. Despite his many accomplishments, Bres remains humble and dedicated to his craft. He continues to perform and conduct regularly, and he is always seeking new ways to push the boundaries of classical music. His passion for music and his commitment to excellence have made him one of the most respected and admired musicians of his generation.More....
