Artist Info
Milana Chernyavska is a Ukrainian-born classical pianist who has gained international recognition for her virtuosic performances and sensitive interpretations of a wide range of repertoire. Born in Kiev in 1974, Chernyavska began playing the piano at the age of five and quickly showed a natural talent for the instrument. She studied at the Kiev Special Music School for Gifted Children, where she received a rigorous training in both piano technique and music theory. In 1991, Chernyavska moved to Germany to continue her studies at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater in Hannover. There, she studied with renowned pianists such as Karl-Heinz Kämmerling and Arie Vardi, and honed her skills as a performer and interpreter. She also began to gain recognition in international competitions, winning prizes at the Maria Canals International Piano Competition in Barcelona and the International Piano Competition in Senigallia, Italy. Chernyavska's career took off in the early 2000s, when she began to perform extensively throughout Europe and Asia. She quickly gained a reputation as a dynamic and expressive performer, with a particular affinity for the music of Chopin, Liszt, and Rachmaninoff. Her performances were praised for their technical brilliance and emotional depth, and she became a sought-after soloist and chamber musician. One of Chernyavska's most notable performances came in 2005, when she played Rachmaninoff's Piano Concerto No. 2 with the Moscow Philharmonic Orchestra under the baton of Yuri Simonov. The performance was hailed as a triumph, with critics praising Chernyavska's "dazzling technique" and "sensitive phrasing." She went on to perform the concerto with numerous other orchestras, including the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and the National Symphony Orchestra of Ukraine. Chernyavska has also been recognized for her recordings, which showcase her versatility as a performer and her deep understanding of the music she plays. Her recording of Chopin's complete Nocturnes, released in 2009, was praised for its "poetic sensitivity" and "impeccable technique." She has also recorded works by Liszt, Schumann, and Debussy, among others. In addition to her solo career, Chernyavska is an active chamber musician, collaborating with some of the world's leading instrumentalists and vocalists. She has performed with violinist Vadim Repin, cellist Alexander Kniazev, and soprano Sumi Jo, among others. Her chamber music performances have been praised for their "seamless ensemble playing" and "deep musical understanding." Chernyavska has received numerous awards and honors throughout her career, including the Order of Merit of Ukraine and the Medal of the Ministry of Culture of Ukraine. She has also been a jury member for several international piano competitions, including the Chopin International Piano Competition in Warsaw. Despite her success, Chernyavska remains dedicated to her craft and continues to push herself as a performer and interpreter. She is known for her meticulous preparation and attention to detail, and for her ability to bring out the emotional depth and complexity of the music she plays. With her technical brilliance and artistic sensitivity, Milana Chernyavska has established herself as one of the most exciting and dynamic pianists of her generation.More....
