Cecilia Bernardini is a renowned classical music artist who has made a name for herself as a violinist. She was born in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, in 1987, to a family of musicians. Her father, Alfredo Bernardini, is a renowned baroque oboist, and her mother, Rie Kimura, is a violinist. Cecilia grew up in a musical environment and started playing the violin at the age of four. Cecilia's talent was evident from a young age, and she quickly became a prodigy. She studied at the Amsterdam Conservatory with Vera Beths and later at the Royal College of Music in London with Itzhak Rashkovsky. She also received guidance from renowned violinists such as Rachel Podger, Thomas Zehetmair, and Isabelle Faust. Cecilia's career took off when she won the first prize at the Premio Bonporti International Baroque Violin Competition in Rovereto, Italy, in 2005. This was followed by several other awards, including the first prize at the International Early Music Competition in Bruges, Belgium, in 2008, and the first prize at the International Bach Competition in Leipzig, Germany, in 2009. Cecilia has performed with some of the world's leading orchestras, including the Academy of Ancient Music, the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment, and the English Concert. She has also collaborated with renowned conductors such as Sir John Eliot Gardiner, William Christie, and Richard Egarr. One of Cecilia's most significant performances was at the BBC Proms in 2015, where she performed Bach's Violin Concerto in E major with the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment. The performance was highly acclaimed, with The Guardian describing it as "a performance of exceptional beauty and poise." Cecilia is also a passionate chamber musician and has performed with several ensembles, including the Dunedin Consort, the Avison Ensemble, and the Palladian Ensemble. She is a member of the ensemble Dunedin Consort, with whom she has recorded several albums, including Handel's Messiah, which won the Gramophone Award for Best Baroque Vocal Album in 2007. In addition to her performing career, Cecilia is also a dedicated teacher. She has taught at several institutions, including the Royal College of Music in London and the Conservatorium van Amsterdam. She is currently a professor of baroque violin at the Royal Academy of Music in London. Cecilia is known for her exceptional technique and musicality, as well as her deep understanding of the baroque repertoire. She plays on a violin made by Giovanni Battista Guadagnini in 1752, which is on loan to her from the Dutch Musical Instruments Foundation. In conclusion, Cecilia Bernardini is a highly accomplished classical music artist who has made a significant contribution to the world of music.
