Roman Summereder was born on May 15, 1985, in Vienna, Austria. He grew up in a family of musicians, with his father being a renowned conductor and his mother a pianist. From a young age, Roman showed a keen interest in music and began playing the piano at the age of four. Roman's parents recognized his talent and enrolled him in the Vienna Conservatory of Music at the age of six. He studied under some of the most renowned piano teachers in Austria and quickly became known for his exceptional talent. By the age of ten, Roman had already won several local and national piano competitions. In 1997, Roman was invited to perform at the prestigious Salzburg Festival, where he received critical acclaim for his performance of Mozart's Piano Concerto No. 21. This performance marked the beginning of Roman's international career as a classical pianist. Over the next few years, Roman continued to perform at major music festivals and concert halls around the world. In 2001, he was invited to perform at the Carnegie Hall in New York City, where he received a standing ovation for his performance of Beethoven's Piano Sonata No. 14. In 2003, Roman won the International Piano Competition in Moscow, which cemented his reputation as one of the most talented young pianists of his generation. He went on to win several other international competitions, including the Chopin International Piano Competition in Warsaw and the Tchaikovsky International Piano Competition in Moscow. Roman's repertoire includes works by some of the greatest composers in classical music, including Mozart, Beethoven, Chopin, and Tchaikovsky. He is known for his technical precision and his ability to convey the emotional depth of the music he plays. In addition to his solo performances, Roman has also collaborated with some of the world's leading orchestras, including the Vienna Philharmonic, the Berlin Philharmonic, and the New York Philharmonic. He has worked with some of the most renowned conductors in the world, including Daniel Barenboim, Simon Rattle, and Valery Gergiev. Roman has also recorded several albums, including a critically acclaimed recording of Beethoven's Piano Sonatas and a recording of Chopin's Nocturnes. His recordings have received numerous awards and accolades, including several Grammy nominations. Despite his success, Roman remains humble and dedicated to his craft. He continues to practice for several hours a day and is always looking for ways to improve his technique and interpretation of the music he plays. In addition to his music career, Roman is also a passionate advocate for music education. He has worked with several organizations to promote music education in schools and to provide opportunities for young musicians to develop their talents.
