The ensemble is known for its innovative and dynamic performances of contemporary classical music, as well as its commitment to promoting the work of Mexican and Latin American composers. The founding members of Aisthesis Ensemble were a group of young musicians who had recently graduated from the National Conservatory of Music in Mexico City. They were united by a shared passion for contemporary classical music and a desire to create a platform for the performance and promotion of new and innovative works. The ensemble's name, Aisthesis, is derived from the Greek word for "perception" or "sensation." This reflects the ensemble's focus on creating performances that engage the senses and challenge the audience's perceptions of what classical music can be. Over the years, Aisthesis Ensemble has grown to become one of the most respected and innovative classical music ensembles in Mexico and Latin America. The ensemble's core members include violinist Daniel Vega-Albela, cellist Rodrigo Negrete, pianist Ana Cervantes, and percussionist Juan José García. One of the highlights of Aisthesis Ensemble's career was their performance at the 2010 Cervantino International Festival in Guanajuato, Mexico. The festival is one of the most prestigious cultural events in Latin America, and Aisthesis Ensemble's performance was widely praised for its energy, creativity, and technical excellence. In addition to their performances at major festivals and concert halls, Aisthesis Ensemble has also been recognized with numerous awards and honors. In 2012, the ensemble was awarded the National Arts and Sciences Prize in the category of "Performing Arts and Audiovisual Production." This award is one of the most prestigious cultural honors in Mexico, and it recognizes the ensemble's contributions to the promotion and development of contemporary classical music in the country. Aisthesis Ensemble's repertoire is diverse and eclectic, ranging from contemporary classical works to traditional Mexican and Latin American music. The ensemble has collaborated with a wide range of composers and performers, including Mexican composer Mario Lavista, Argentine composer Osvaldo Golijov, and American composer John Adams. One of the ensemble's most notable collaborations was with Mexican composer Gabriela Ortiz, whose work "Altar de Piedra" was commissioned by Aisthesis Ensemble in 2014. The piece was inspired by the ancient Mesoamerican tradition of building altars out of stone, and it features a unique blend of traditional Mexican instruments and contemporary classical techniques. Aisthesis Ensemble's commitment to promoting the work of Mexican and Latin American composers has also led them to collaborate with a number of emerging and established composers from the region. The ensemble has premiered works by Mexican composers such as Arturo Márquez, Enrico Chapela, and Javier Álvarez, as well as works by composers from other Latin American countries such as Brazil, Argentina, and Colombia. In addition to their performances and collaborations, Aisthesis Ensemble is also committed to education and outreach.More....
