He was born to a Romanian father and a Swiss mother, both of whom were musicians. His father, Dan Gheorghiu, is a renowned violinist, and his mother, Maria Teodora Gheorghiu, is a pianist. Teo grew up in a musical family and started playing the piano at the age of four. Teo's talent for music was evident from a young age, and he quickly became a prodigy. He began performing in public at the age of six and won his first competition at the age of seven. He continued to win numerous competitions throughout his childhood and teenage years, including the Swiss Youth Music Competition, the International Piano Competition in Ettlingen, Germany, and the International Piano Competition in San Marino. In 2005, Teo gained international recognition when he was cast as the young protagonist in the film "Vitus," directed by Fredi M. Murer. The film tells the story of a young boy who is a musical prodigy and struggles to balance his talent with his desire for a normal childhood. Teo's performance in the film was widely praised, and he won the Best Actor award at the Swiss Film Awards in 2007. Despite his success as an actor, Teo remained committed to his music career. He continued to study piano with renowned teachers, including Karl-Andreas Kolly and Homero Francesch. In 2009, he was accepted into the prestigious Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia, where he studied with Gary Graffman. Teo's career as a pianist continued to flourish, and he performed in some of the world's most prestigious concert halls, including Carnegie Hall in New York, the Royal Albert Hall in London, and the Berlin Philharmonic. Teo's career reached new heights in 2013 when he was invited to perform at the prestigious Verbier Festival in Switzerland. He performed Rachmaninoff's Piano Concerto No. 2 with the Verbier Festival Orchestra, conducted by Valery Gergiev.
