Role:ConductorCraig Jessop is a renowned American conductor, singer, and educator who has made significant contributions to the world of classical music. Born on December 18, 1946, in Salt Lake City, Utah, Jessop grew up in a musical family and began singing at a young age. His father was a music teacher, and his mother was a pianist, which provided him with a solid foundation in music. Jessop attended Brigham Young University (BYU) in Provo, Utah, where he earned a Bachelor of Music degree in Vocal Performance. He then went on to earn a Master of Music degree in Conducting from the University of Michigan. After completing his studies, Jessop began his career as a conductor and singer, performing with various orchestras and choirs across the United States. In 1987, Jessop was appointed as the Director of Choral Activities at BYU, where he served for 20 years. During his tenure, he transformed the BYU Choirs into one of the most respected choral programs in the world. He also founded the American Choral Directors Association (ACDA) National Collegiate Choral Organization, which has become a leading organization for collegiate choral conductors. In 1999, Jessop was appointed as the Music Director of the Mormon Tabernacle Choir, one of the most prestigious choral ensembles in the world. During his tenure, he led the choir on numerous tours and performances, including the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City, the 2005 Papal Mass in St. Peter's Basilica in Rome, and the 2008 Beijing Olympics.
