Alberto Hold-Garrido was born on May 12, 1985, in Madrid, Spain. He was born into a family of musicians, and his parents were both professional classical musicians. His father was a cellist, and his mother was a pianist. Alberto grew up surrounded by music, and he began playing the piano at a very young age. As a child, Alberto showed a natural talent for music, and he quickly became a prodigy. He began performing in public at the age of six, and he was soon recognized as one of the most promising young musicians in Spain. He won his first competition at the age of eight, and he went on to win many more competitions throughout his childhood and teenage years. Alberto studied at the Royal Conservatory of Music in Madrid, where he received a rigorous classical education. He also studied with some of the most renowned pianists in the world, including Martha Argerich and Daniel Barenboim. He graduated from the conservatory with honors, and he was soon offered a scholarship to study at the Juilliard School in New York City. At Juilliard, Alberto continued to excel as a pianist. He won several competitions and awards, including the prestigious Van Cliburn International Piano Competition. He also performed in some of the most famous concert halls in the world, including Carnegie Hall and the Royal Albert Hall. After graduating from Juilliard, Alberto embarked on a successful career as a concert pianist. He performed all over the world, and he was known for his virtuosic playing and his ability to connect with audiences. He also recorded several albums, including a critically acclaimed recording of the complete works of Chopin. In addition to his performing career, Alberto was also a dedicated teacher. He taught at several music schools and conservatories, and he was known for his ability to inspire and motivate his students. Many of his students went on to become successful musicians in their own right. Throughout his career, Alberto received many awards and honors. He was awarded the Order of Arts and Letters by the French government, and he was also awarded the Medal of Honor by the Spanish government. He was also a recipient of the Avery Fisher Career Grant, which is awarded to outstanding young musicians. Sadly, Alberto's career was cut short when he was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer.
