Birth:March 17, 1989 in Lecco, ItalyFrancesca Dego is a renowned Italian classical music artist who has made a name for herself in the international music scene. Born on February 24, 1989, in Lecco, Italy, Dego grew up in a family of musicians. Her father, a cellist, and her mother, a pianist, were both professional musicians who played in orchestras and taught music. From a young age, Dego was exposed to classical music and began playing the violin at the age of four. Dego's talent was evident from an early age, and she quickly became a prodigy. She began performing in public at the age of six and won her first competition at the age of eight. Dego continued to win numerous competitions throughout her childhood and teenage years, including the prestigious Paganini Competition in Genoa, Italy, at the age of 12. In 2001, Dego was accepted into the prestigious Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia in Rome, where she studied with renowned violinist Salvatore Accardo. She continued her studies at the Hochschule für Musik Hanns Eisler in Berlin, where she studied with Ulf Wallin. Dego also studied with Corina Belcea at the Royal Academy of Music in London. Dego's career as a professional musician began in 2008 when she won the International Violin Competition of Indianapolis. This win launched her career, and she began performing with major orchestras around the world. Dego has performed with the London Symphony Orchestra, the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, the Tokyo Symphony Orchestra, the Orchestre National de France, and the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia Orchestra, among others. Dego has also performed at major music festivals around the world, including the Verbier Festival, the Salzburg Festival, the Lucerne Festival, and the Ravinia Festival. She has collaborated with many renowned musicians, including Martha Argerich, Yuri Bashmet, and Maxim Vengerov. In addition to her performances, Dego is also a dedicated teacher. She has taught masterclasses at the Royal Academy of Music in London, the Hochschule für Musik Hanns Eisler in Berlin, and the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia in Rome. Dego is also a member of the jury for the International Violin Competition of Indianapolis. Dego has received numerous awards and accolades throughout her career. In addition to her win at the International Violin Competition of Indianapolis, she has won the Premio Abbiati, the Italian music critics' award, and the Franco Abbiati Prize for Best Soloist. She was also named a BBC New Generation Artist in 2012. Dego has recorded several albums, including a recording of Paganini's 24 Caprices for solo violin, which was released in 2015. She has also recorded works by Beethoven, Brahms, and Tchaikovsky, among others. Dego is known for her virtuosic playing and her ability to bring emotion and depth to her performances. She is a passionate advocate for classical music and is dedicated to bringing it to new audiences.
