Sergey Khachatryan is a world-renowned classical music artist who has captivated audiences with his virtuosic performances on the violin. Born on June 5, 1985, in Yerevan, Armenia, Khachatryan was raised in a family of musicians. His father, Karen Khachatryan, was a violinist and his mother, Susanna Khachatryan, was a pianist. From a young age, Khachatryan showed a natural talent for music and began studying the violin at the age of six. Khachatryan's early musical education was shaped by his father, who was his first teacher. He later studied at the Tchaikovsky Special Music School in Moscow, where he was mentored by renowned violinist Eduard Grach. Khachatryan's talent was quickly recognized, and he won his first international competition at the age of nine, the Aram Khachaturian International Competition in Yerevan. In 2000, Khachatryan made his debut with the Armenian Philharmonic Orchestra, performing the Tchaikovsky Violin Concerto. This performance marked the beginning of his international career, and he soon began performing with orchestras around the world. In 2005, Khachatryan won the prestigious Queen Elisabeth Competition in Brussels, Belgium, cementing his status as one of the world's leading violinists. Since then, Khachatryan has performed with many of the world's top orchestras, including the London Symphony Orchestra, the Berlin Philharmonic, and the New York Philharmonic. He has also collaborated with some of the world's leading conductors, including Valery Gergiev, Sir Simon Rattle, and Riccardo Chailly. Khachatryan's repertoire is vast and includes works by some of the greatest composers in history, such as Bach, Beethoven, Brahms, and Tchaikovsky. He is particularly known for his interpretations of the works of Armenian composers, such as Aram Khachaturian and Komitas. In addition to his performances, Khachatryan is also a dedicated teacher. He has taught masterclasses around the world and is a professor at the Haute École de Musique de Genève in Switzerland. Throughout his career, Khachatryan has received numerous awards and accolades. In addition to his win at the Queen Elisabeth Competition, he has been awarded the Aram Khachaturian Medal, the Movses Khorenatsi Medal, and the Order of Honor by the President of Armenia. He was also named a UNESCO Artist for Peace in 2011. Despite his many accomplishments, Khachatryan remains humble and dedicated to his craft. He continues to perform around the world, delighting audiences with his virtuosic playing and passionate interpretations of some of the greatest works in classical music.
