Duo Praxedis is a classical music ensemble consisting of two sisters, Praxedis and Praxedis Hug-Rütti, who are both accomplished pianists and harpists. The ensemble was founded in 2005 and has since gained international recognition for their unique and innovative performances. Praxedis and Praxedis Hug-Rütti were born in Switzerland and began their musical training at a young age. Praxedis started playing the piano at the age of four and later added the harp to her repertoire, while Praxedis Hug-Rütti started with the harp and later added the piano. Both sisters studied at the Zurich University of the Arts and the Royal Academy of Music in London. The duo's name, Duo Praxedis, is derived from the name of a saint who was known for her musical talents. The sisters chose this name as a tribute to their Catholic faith and their love of music. Duo Praxedis has performed in numerous prestigious venues around the world, including the Wigmore Hall in London, the Konzerthaus in Vienna, and the Carnegie Hall in New York. They have also performed at various music festivals, such as the Lucerne Festival, the Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival, and the Festival de Musique de Menton. One of the highlights of Duo Praxedis' career was their performance at the 2012 World Harp Congress in Vancouver, Canada. They were the first harp duo to perform at the congress and received a standing ovation for their performance. The duo has also been featured on various radio and television programs, including BBC Radio 3 and Swiss Radio and Television. Duo Praxedis has released several albums, including "Harp & Piano" and "Harp & Piano II," which feature a mix of classical and contemporary pieces. Their album "Harp & Piano II" was nominated for the International Classical Music Awards in 2016. In addition to their performances, Duo Praxedis is also committed to promoting music education. They have given masterclasses and workshops at various music schools and universities, including the Royal Academy of Music in London and the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna.
