She was the daughter of a music teacher and grew up in a family that was passionate about music. Her father recognized her talent for music at a young age and encouraged her to pursue a career in music. Freyer began her musical education at the age of six, studying piano and violin. She showed exceptional talent and dedication to her craft, and by the age of 12, she had already won several local competitions. Her parents recognized her potential and enrolled her in the prestigious Hochschule für Musik Hanns Eisler in Berlin, where she studied under the tutelage of renowned pianist and composer, Walter Gieseking. During her time at the Hochschule für Musik Hanns Eisler, Freyer honed her skills and developed a deep understanding of classical music. She was a dedicated student and spent countless hours practicing and perfecting her craft. Her hard work paid off, and she graduated with honors in 1965. After graduation, Freyer began her career as a concert pianist, performing in various venues across Germany. Her performances were well-received, and she quickly gained a reputation as a talented and passionate musician. In 1968, she won the prestigious International Chopin Piano Competition in Warsaw, Poland, which catapulted her to international fame. Freyer's career continued to flourish, and she went on to perform in some of the world's most renowned concert halls, including Carnegie Hall in New York, the Royal Albert Hall in London, and the Berlin Philharmonic. She collaborated with some of the world's most renowned conductors and orchestras, including the London Symphony Orchestra, the New York Philharmonic, and the Berlin Philharmonic. Throughout her career, Freyer was known for her passionate and emotive performances.
