Birth:1990 in Mallorca, SpainFrancisco Fullana is a Spanish violinist who has gained international recognition for his virtuosic performances and innovative programming. Born in Palma de Mallorca in 1987, Fullana began playing the violin at the age of three and showed exceptional talent from an early age. He studied with renowned teachers such as Zakhar Bron, Ana Chumachenco, and Ruggiero Ricci, and went on to earn degrees from the Royal Conservatory of Madrid and The Juilliard School in New York. Fullana's career as a soloist began to take off in the early 2010s, when he won several prestigious competitions, including the International Violin Competition "Premio Paganini" in Italy and the Pro Musicis International Award in New York. These victories led to invitations to perform with major orchestras around the world, including the London Symphony Orchestra, the Los Angeles Philharmonic, and the Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra. One of Fullana's most notable performances was his debut with the New York Philharmonic in 2018, where he played the world premiere of a violin concerto by the composer David Fulmer. The piece was written specifically for Fullana and showcased his technical prowess and expressive range. The New York Times praised Fullana's "dazzling technique and rich, varied tone" and called him "a musician of great promise." Fullana is also known for his innovative programming, which often combines classical works with contemporary pieces and lesser-known repertoire. In 2019, he released his debut album, "Through the Lens of Time," which features works by Bach, Ysaÿe, and Kreisler alongside new compositions by contemporary composers such as Arvo Pärt and Bryce Dessner. The album received critical acclaim and was named one of the best classical albums of the year by NPR Music. In addition to his solo career, Fullana is also an active chamber musician and collaborator. He has performed with artists such as cellist Yo-Yo Ma and pianist Emanuel Ax, and is a member of the Harlem Quartet, a string quartet dedicated to promoting diversity and inclusion in classical music. Fullana is also committed to music education and outreach, and has worked with organizations such as the Sphinx Organization and the El Sistema program in Venezuela. Fullana's achievements have been recognized with numerous awards and honors. In addition to his competition wins, he has received the Avery Fisher Career Grant, the Career Assistance Award from the Salon de Virtuosi, and the "Leonardo da Vinci" Prize from the Rotary Club of Florence. He has also been named a "Rising Star" by the European Concert Hall Organization and a "Young Artist to Watch" by Musical America. Looking to the future, Fullana shows no signs of slowing down. He continues to perform around the world and is working on new projects that push the boundaries of classical music. With his technical mastery, artistic vision, and commitment to innovation and inclusivity, Francisco Fullana is a musician who is sure to make a lasting impact on the classical music world.More....
