Period:RomanticModernGenre:OperaWilli Hofmann was born on May 15, 1975, in Vienna, Austria. He was born into a family of musicians, and his parents were both professional classical musicians. His father was a renowned violinist, and his mother was a pianist. Willi grew up surrounded by music, and he began playing the violin at the age of four. Willi showed a natural talent for the violin, and he quickly became a prodigy. He began performing in public at the age of six, and he made his debut with the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra at the age of nine. He continued to perform with the Vienna Philharmonic throughout his childhood, and he quickly gained a reputation as one of the most talented young violinists in the world. As Willi grew older, he continued to hone his skills as a violinist. He studied under some of the most renowned violin teachers in the world, including Itzhak Perlman and Pinchas Zukerman. He also attended the Juilliard School in New York City, where he studied under Dorothy DeLay. Willi's talent as a violinist continued to grow, and he began to receive invitations to perform with some of the world's most prestigious orchestras. He made his debut with the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra in 1995, and he quickly became a regular guest performer with the orchestra. He also performed with the New York Philharmonic, the London Symphony Orchestra, and the Vienna Symphony Orchestra. In addition to his performances with orchestras, Willi also began to establish himself as a solo performer. He released his first solo album, "Willi Hofmann Plays Bach," in 1998, and it quickly became a best-seller. He followed up with several more solo albums, including "Willi Hofmann Plays Mozart" and "Willi Hofmann Plays Beethoven." Willi's talent as a violinist was recognized with numerous awards and honors throughout his career. He was awarded the prestigious Avery Fisher Career Grant in 1997, and he was named a MacArthur Fellow in 2001. He was also awarded the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany in 2005. Despite his success as a musician, Willi remained humble and dedicated to his craft. He continued to practice for hours every day, and he always sought to improve his skills as a violinist. He also remained committed to teaching, and he taught master classes at music schools around the world. Tragically, Willi's career was cut short when he was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer in 2010. He continued to perform and teach throughout his illness, but he passed away on June 15, 2012, at the age of 37. Willi Hofmann's legacy as a musician and teacher lives on, and he is remembered as one of the greatest violinists of his generation. His recordings continue to inspire and delight classical music fans around the world, and his dedication to his craft serves as an inspiration to young musicians everywhere.More....
