Aleksandar Madzar is a renowned classical pianist born on October 17, 1968, in Belgrade, Serbia. He began playing the piano at the age of six and showed exceptional talent from an early age. His parents recognized his potential and enrolled him in the Music School in Belgrade, where he studied under the guidance of Professor Arbo Valdma. Madzar's talent was quickly recognized, and he won his first competition at the age of nine. He continued to win numerous competitions throughout his childhood and teenage years, including the Yugoslav National Competition for Young Pianists and the International Competition for Young Pianists in Senigallia, Italy. In 1986, Madzar moved to Paris to study at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris under the tutelage of Yvonne Loriod-Messiaen. He graduated with honors in 1990 and went on to win several international competitions, including the International Piano Competition in Epinal, France, and the International Piano Competition in Senigallia, Italy. Madzar's career took off in the early 1990s, and he quickly gained a reputation as one of the most talented pianists of his generation. He has performed with some of the world's leading orchestras, including the London Symphony Orchestra, the Berlin Philharmonic, and the New York Philharmonic. He has also collaborated with many renowned conductors, including Claudio Abbado, Daniel Barenboim, and Riccardo Chailly. Madzar's repertoire is vast and includes works by some of the greatest composers in history, such as Bach, Beethoven, Chopin, Liszt, and Rachmaninoff. He is particularly known for his interpretations of the works of Chopin, and his recording of Chopin's complete Nocturnes has been widely acclaimed. In 1993, he was awarded the prestigious French award, Victoire de la Musique, for his recording of Chopin's complete Nocturnes. He has also been awarded the Serbian Order of Merit for Culture and the Arts and the Medal of the City of Belgrade. In addition to his performing career, Madzar is also a respected teacher. He has taught at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris and the Hochschule für Musik und Tanz Köln in Germany. He is currently a professor at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater in Bern, Switzerland. Madzar continues to perform regularly and is highly regarded by audiences and critics alike. His performances are known for their technical brilliance, emotional depth, and musical sensitivity. He is considered one of the greatest pianists of his generation and a true master of his craft.
