Bjarne Hansen was born on May 15, 1985, in Oslo, Norway. He grew up in a family of musicians, with his father being a renowned pianist and his mother a violinist. From a young age, Bjarne showed a keen interest in music and began playing the piano at the age of four. Bjarne's parents recognized his talent and encouraged him to pursue a career in music. He began taking piano lessons with his father and quickly progressed, displaying a natural ability for the instrument. By the age of ten, Bjarne had already won several local piano competitions and was gaining recognition as a prodigious young talent. At the age of twelve, Bjarne was accepted into the prestigious Barratt Due Institute of Music in Oslo, where he continued his studies under the guidance of renowned pianist and teacher, Leif Ove Andsnes. During his time at the institute, Bjarne honed his skills and developed a deep understanding of classical music. In 2003, Bjarne was awarded a scholarship to study at the Juilliard School in New York City. This was a major turning point in his career, as he was now able to study with some of the world's most renowned pianists and teachers. Bjarne thrived in this environment and quickly established himself as one of the school's top students. During his time at Juilliard, Bjarne had the opportunity to perform in some of the world's most prestigious concert halls, including Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Center. He also won several awards and competitions, including the Juilliard Concerto Competition and the Gina Bachauer Piano Competition. After graduating from Juilliard in 2007, Bjarne embarked on a successful career as a concert pianist. He has performed with some of the world's leading orchestras, including the New York Philharmonic, the London Symphony Orchestra, and the Berlin Philharmonic. He has also collaborated with many of the world's top conductors, including Daniel Barenboim, Simon Rattle, and Gustavo Dudamel. Bjarne's repertoire is vast and includes works by some of the greatest composers in history, including Bach, Beethoven, Chopin, and Rachmaninoff. He is particularly known for his interpretations of the works of Norwegian composer Edvard Grieg, and has been praised for his ability to capture the essence of Grieg's music. In addition to his performing career, Bjarne is also a dedicated teacher. He has taught masterclasses at some of the world's leading music schools, including the Royal Academy of Music in London and the Conservatoire de Paris. He is also a regular guest lecturer at the Barratt Due Institute of Music in Oslo. Throughout his career, Bjarne has received numerous awards and accolades. In 2010, he was awarded the prestigious Avery Fisher Career Grant, which recognizes outstanding young musicians who show great potential for a major career in music. He has also been awarded the Grieg Prize, the Norwegian Music Critics' Award, and the Sibelius Prize. Despite his success, Bjarne remains humble and dedicated to his craft. He continues to push himself to new heights and is always striving to improve his playing. He is widely regarded as one of the most talented and promising young pianists of his generation, and his future in the world of classical music looks bright.
