Marilyn Mazur is a Danish percussionist, composer, and bandleader who has made significant contributions to the world of classical music. Born on January 18, 1955, in New York City, Mazur grew up in a family of musicians. Her father was a jazz pianist, and her mother was a classical pianist. Mazur began playing the piano at the age of six, but she soon switched to percussion, which became her primary instrument.
