The Pavel Haas Quartet is a Czech classical music ensemble that has gained international recognition for their exceptional performances and recordings. The quartet was formed in 2002 and is named after Pavel Haas, a Czech composer who was killed in Auschwitz during World War II. The quartet consists of Veronika Jarůšková on violin, Marek Zwiebel on violin, Jiří Kabát on viola, and Peter Jarůšek on cello. All four members of the quartet studied at the Prague Conservatory and the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague. The Pavel Haas Quartet quickly gained attention for their outstanding performances and won several awards early on in their career. In 2005, they won the Prague Spring International Music Festival Competition, which helped to launch their international career. They also won the Premio Paolo Borciani International String Quartet Competition in Italy in 2007. The quartet's recording received critical acclaim and won several awards, including the Gramophone Award for Chamber Music in 2011. The quartet's recording of Dvořák's String Quartets Nos. 12 and 13 also received critical acclaim and won the Gramophone Award for Chamber Music in 2016.
